AUSTRALIAN AIRLINE REDEFINES ATTENDANT LOOK WITH NEW UNIFORM LINE

In the past few years, airline attendant uniforms have made the news, and not always for positive reasons. But a new airline company based in Australia plans to change that.

While many airlines, such as Virgin, have updated their policies to better reflect modern times — for instance, no longer requiring flight attendants to cover up tattoos — the proverbial pencil skirt or button-up with tie are still prominent in the space. However, up-and-coming airline Bonza, set to commence operations later this year in Australia, is taking things to a new level with its recent announcement that its uniform line will be “super casual,” including styles such as white T-shirts, black pants, tailored shorts, sneakers, and more.

In addition, according to Carly Povey, chief commercial officer of Bonza, the airline will also do away with “grooming guides.” These often include stipulations like attendants must wear lipstick or cover up certain parts of their bodies because of tattoos.
