Scope: Develop a gender-inclusive uniform range that ensures inclusivity and accessibility at every stage.
Total Image Group (TIG) have had a longstanding relationship with The Woolworths Group, and have been the preferred dress supplier for Woolworths Metro since 2013. In that time, TIG have worked with Metro to develop and implement inclusive garments and dress code policies, ensuring all Metro employees feel comfortable in and represented by their uniform.
Gender Inclusive Uniform Policy
Since 2020, Woolworths Metro have applied a gender-neutral dress policy. Total Image Group were able to implement this policy on the Metro online uniform store utilising both gender-neutral garment names and gender-neutral products across all categories.
For example, the Metro polo range, custom designed and manufactured by Total Image Group, offers an “All Gender Style” long-sleeve polo. Available in sizes 2XS to 5XL, this polo was created to be worn comfortably by people of every gender identity and presentation, with long sleeves that also offer a practical option for modesty dressing. Alongside the All-Gender style are “Men’s Style” and “Women’s Style” polos, labelled as such to indicate that whilst their designs are based on traditional gendered styles, the garments have no gender-based restrictions and can be worn by any staff member.
The same approach has been taken with Metro outerwear. The All Gender Hoodie is available in sizes XS to 5XL in a style designed for all gender identities. The puffer vests and jackets have a more traditional, gender based design, but are also available to be worn by all staff members.
The inclusive labelling and gender-neutral product design also extends to the Shirts and Accessories categories.
To confirm and encourage this diverse and inclusive dress code policy, TIG collaborated with Metro and included a short message to employees on the home page of their online store that reads: “We acknowledge that some team members may be transgender, gender diverse or non-binary and encourage you to dress in a way which best reflects your gender.”
