The Brief
Smartways has been providing logistics services to the healthcare industry for 21 years. Despite managing numerous international deliveries, they faced challenges in differentiating their brand, as their Hi-Vis uniforms were limited to the standard neon orange and yellow. This led Smartways to seek Total Image Group’s expertise in incorporating their brand colours of navy and red into Hi-Vis uniforms.
Product Development
Integrating branding into uniforms is typically a straightforward process, but when it comes to Hi-Vis workwear, it presents unique challenges. Smartways approached Total Image Group with an existing shirt design, seeking to create a Hi-Vis red that would align with their branding while maintaining fabric quality. They also needed a red shade that balanced both staff safety and comfort.
Although this had never been attempted before, Total Image Group was determined to make the “impossible” possible. After 12 months of rigorous testing, the perfect red hue was developed, complemented by a navy collar. A specialised dyeing process over sublimation was applied to ensure the garment’s longevity and durability. The final Hi-Vis red shirt meets the AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 standards, making it compliant for daytime Hi-Vis use.
Tailored Uniforms for Various Roles
Polos and vests were incorporated into the custom range to streamline employees’ uniforms while ensuring consistent branding. Smartways’ delivery drivers were equipped with red polos, eliminating the need for additional safety vests, while office staff received hi-vis vests with reflective tape, ensuring a unified and professional look across all departments.
Online Store
To simplify the rollout of the red hi-vis garments, Total Image Group created a one-stop shop for Smartways’ employees by offering personalised online store. This helped streamline the uniform ordering process, ensuring a hassle-free experience for staff and management.
